The 2nd African council of international neonatal nurse’s conference 14th - 15th November 2019 closing ceremony also saw the officiating of the oath taking ceremony for BSN Nursing class of 2019. The oath taking and candle lighting was overseen by Mrs. Florence Ogongo and coordinated by Dr. Miriam Wagoro -Director school of nursing sciences.
Mrs. Ogongo is neonatal nurse who has worked in the field for many years. Her professional qualifications are KRN/KRM/KRCHN (P.B)/NEONATAL NURSE. She has also acquired training in Melbourne Australia on neonatal care. She is currently a retired nurse working in the community. She has worked in various capacities as a nurse from the ministry of health to the private sector. From 1987 to 2007, she worked in various capacities as a nursing officer in the newborn unit at the Kenyatta National Hospital. From 2009 to 2018, she worked as the assistant chief nurse in the newborn unit providing services to the newborn babies, leadership and mentoring of students and other health workers.
Mrs ogongo stressed upon the importance of nursing care and wished the entire class of 2019 the best future endeavors .The director nursing emphasized on the Florence Nightingale Pledge on professionalism, loyalty and devotion to the welfare of the patient
