Joshua Kipyego Kipsambu elected NUNSA Chairperson in close contest

New Nairobi University Nursing Students Association (NUNSA) leadership elected, with Joshua Kipyego Kipsambu clinching victory in the recently concluded NUNSA elections.

Joshua triumphed by a total of 98 votes out of the 181 votes cast via the university's e-vote system on the 9th of July, 2026. His opponent Onyancha Michael Kimoti followed closely by garnering 83 votes.

In the Academic affairs ballot, Mutegi Evan’s Munene emerged victorious with a whooping 133 votes beating his opponent Tufflick Oluoch Charles who had garnered 48 votes.

Elijah Ombaso Ouma crossed the finish line in the Sports and welfare ballot by 141 votes with his opponent Eli Koech Sabila following behind with 40 votes.

The other leadership positions saw the unopposed contestants walk away victorious with Junior Evance securing the Secretary General position and the Treasurer seat going to Regina Kitondo Vundi. The Organising Secretary position was clinched by Dennis Muigai Ng’ang’a and the Publicity and Communication seat going to Tracy Osilo Adhiambo unchallenged.

The election chair Lawrence Munene Mulota thanked the students and electoral team for an eventful election.

“I congratulate the winners and I also congratulate you students for having visible elections,” he said in his address after the voting concluded.

Representing the students Calvin Mokaya, lauded the ICT team and the faculty for the impartial facilitation of the elections.

“I want to thank the ICT team for making sure that the elections were done and completed in a fair and credible manner,” he said.

The winners will officially assume office after being sworn into office.

The faculty and department congratulate all the winners for their victory.
