The Department of Nursing Sciences, hosted Gary Nestrick, an International Radiology Nurse expert and a volunteer with RAD-AID team currently visiting Kenya.
Nestrick gave a lecture to faculty, students and clinical nurse practitioners from Kenyatta National Hospital. The lecture was titled radiology nursing on global scope of radiological nursing practice and the care of patients undergoing radiological investigations and treatments.
The faculty and clinical practitioner nurses noted that this is a new specialty of Nursing in Kenya and requires capacity building.
The plan is to have collaborations so that nurses in Kenya can be trained in this area. The Department of Nursing Sciences is planning further meeting with the USA association of RAD-IR on the new specialty for improvement of patients’ health outcomes.
