The School of Nursing Sciences received visitors from Carroll College on 22nd May, 2018.Carroll College is a private, Catholic, institution located in Helena, Montana. Carroll College is actively working to promote sustainable partnerships with communities and educational institutions worldwide. Through innovative programs and strategic global partnerships, the Artaza, Center for Excellence in Global Education at Carroll College has been able to fund faculty members’ travel and research, staff grants for immersive programs, and many student scholarships to expand global and cross-cultural skills, attitudes and behaviours across every aspect of our campus.

The BScN program offered within the Department of Nursing prepares graduates who enter into the practice of professional nursing with a framework of knowledge integrated from the sciences, arts and humanities. Emphasis is placed on the delivery of holistic nursing care which recognizes the dignity and uniqueness of every person.

The team’s purpose of the visit was to explore the possibility of a collaborative relationship between the two institutions.

Specifically to:

  • Assess the feasibility of ongoing partnerships to foster cultural understanding and goodwill
  • Identify and create sustainable relationships between Carroll college and UON –school of Nursing Sciences
  • Determine the possible exchange opportunities for students and faculty members
  • Provide an opportunity to learn about the challenges and triumphs of public health nurses in order to bring a real world perspective into the classroom and clinical teaching at Carroll College.

The team was led by Dr.Donna Greenwood -Associate Professor of community and public health nursing. Other members of the team were:

  1. Dr.Janet Johnson-Senior nursing instructor
  2. Dr.Cheri Long-Director, Artazar, center for excellence in Global Health
  3. Ms.Teresa Obwaya-Coulcil member for Global Network for Public Health Nurses.

The team also paid a courtesy call to the Principal-CHS, Deputy Director Nursing services –KNH and Director Nursing services, MOH.
