Proffessor Anna Karani was a great mentor and a friend to many . Prof Karani was a distinguished scholar who gave her best to mankind. A Professor of Nursing & Nursing Education at the University of Nairobi since 2008. Prof. Karani received several awards for promoting community work and nursing education.

In its quest for enriching  serious gaming as a learning tool, the DNS receives its first board game designed  by South African German Development Cooperation in partnership with safer spaces. Indawo,   a Learning Tool for Co-Designing Safer Communities was developed as a way for anyone to learn about planning an area-based approach to violence prevention in South Africa.
